Vision Board Party

Goal setting. We think about it - we know it should be done - but really? How boring! This is a fun way to get your goals together in one spot so you can move forward and start ~
"Living your Life to the Fullest"

The first step: take the time to organize your dreams, desires, and goals. This process will help you become much clearer about where you are in your life and in your thinking, as well as helping to move you in the direction of your future.
Sound dull?  Make it fun ~~

~*Have a Vision Board Party*~

Invite your friends in for an afternoon or evening filled with brainstorming, laughter and getting re-acquainted with their desired path to the future. Tea, Appetizers or Potluck?

Things to bring: magazines, scissors, glue sticks, and a poster board.
(hint: those of you that will be doing this with clients, provide logo'd recycle bags for the guests to carry home their supplies)

Getting started: while flipping through the magazines, cut out any pictures, words or phrases that represent what you want in your life. For example, if you would like to become a business owner, you might have a picture of the type of business you are interested in. You may have a picture of a body type, or a destination for traveling. Once the cutting is finished, you start gluing these to your poster board.
*~Feng Shui~*
Using the feng shui principles: Instead of gluing your cut outs in a haphazard manner, you will use the Bagua map below. This map is simply an energy layout of your home. It's a tool that is used in feng shui to identify the areas of your home as they relate to the different aspects of your life ie. Career, Health, Relationships, Finances, etc.

Start building your board: Take a look at your poster board and mentally  divide it into 9 sections. As you sort through your pile, glue each picture, word or phrase in the appropriate area. This will do two things:

1. It will give more energy and power to each goal because you are directly relating it to the relevant life area.
2. It will show you where your are putting the most energy and focus in your life and where you may need to put more.

If you find that you have a piece that may fit into more than one area, it's okay. This is a tool that helps you become clearer about where you are in life and thinking while it is helping you move in the directions of your goals.

Finally, Place your vision board in a place that you will see it. Mine are directly in front of my desk. I have seen them hung in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms or anywhere it can be seen regularly.

The picture above shows my vision boards. There are two because as we go through life our thoughts change and some goals change. The bottom portion was created in 2007 and the things that have changed in my life since then are amazing. # 1 Living Dolls Inc was created and four years later we are standing strong in the women's community. One of my goals was to take a leap of faith so I left my long term career to travel nationally for a coaching company that required me to step outside of the box daily. This new experience lasted a full year and again I reached out and was accepted back to the career I held previously. My personal life has changed, my children have changed, but, my long term goals are about the same. The economy shift has made all of us rethink our futures and our paths to get where we want to be. I recommend that to make a new addition to your board every couple of years - don't disregard the first just keep building on. The top portion of my board was created this year - 2011 - similar goals with stronger focus on Living Dolls Inc. and rebuilding my financial goals.
